Data Collection

BlockTube does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.

The extension operates entirely within your browser. It does not:

• Collect or send analytics
• Make network requests to external servers
• Use cookies
• Track your browsing activity
• Share data with third parties
• Access external APIs or services

Local Storage Only

The following data is stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage.local:

• A SHA-256 hash of the parent password (used to verify the unlock password)
• An unlock timer timestamp (used to auto-lock YouTube after the time limit expires)

This data never leaves your device.

Permissions Explained

• storage — Store password hash and unlock timer locally.
• alarms — Watchdog to keep the extension running.
• management — Re-enable the extension if someone tries to disable it.
• declarativeNetRequest — Redirect /shorts/ URLs to YouTube home.
• host_permissions (*://*.youtube.com/*) — Run the content script on YouTube.

Third Parties

No third-party code, libraries, or services. No external scripts or resources.

Children

Does not collect data from any user regardless of age.
